·       Maintain customer network stability during maintenance-window activities and confirm testing is completed according to the Network Design Specification before customer handoff.

·       Provide remote and onsite technical assistance during complex greenfield deployments and escalate technical issues to Regional Technical Support through resolution.

·       Develop complex or custom Methods of Procedure (MOPs), validate deployment actions, and provide project status reports to assigned Senior and Lead Field Service Engineers.

·       Develop testing and commissioning capabilities of Ciena field staff and service partners, maintain knowledge of new products, provide product feedback to the NPI group, and recommend deployment process improvements.

The must haves:

·       Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

·       Experience: 5 years of directly related optical and/or Ethernet experience.

·       Experience: 2 years of experience with turn-up and testing of Ciena fiber-optic transport and/or switching equipment.

·       Use of Microsoft Office applications and basic web skills.

·       Ability to accommodate continuous travel and nonstandard work hours.

Nice to haves:

·       Application of managed DWDM optical network knowledge to troubleshoot technical problems during new deployments and upgrades.

·       Broad knowledge across the Ciena product portfolio.

·       Background in instructing and coaching field staff or service partners and creating development opportunities.

·       Application of critical thinking to multidimensional problems and relationships.

·       Ability to make timely assessments and independent decisions in complex situations.

·       Written and verbal communication and customer-service interaction skills.

·       Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and maintain composure during maintenance-window activities.
